It is our intention in this curriculum to reveal the power of art in expressing thoughts and feeling when words are not available.
The lessons are in no way to be considered art therapy and are used only to reflect the students thoughts and emotions.
The lessons are designed specifically to direct the student to understand themselves more clearly; to explore their reality in a different way; to set visual goals; to see their own progress; and to appreciate their differences.

The lessons are designed specifically to direct the student to understand themselves more clearly; to explore their reality in a different way; to set visual goals; to see their own progress; and to appreciate their differences.
1.) Color Breathe (Relax and see calm going through your body)
2.) Now and Future (Where are you now and where do you want to be)
3.) Positive and Negative Thoughts (Capture negative thoughts before they impact)
4.) Grayscale (measure your feelings on a scale of 1 to 10. Are they working for or against you?)
5.) Thief Collage (What has your addiction stolen from you?)
The curriculum comes with a workbook that is in a lesson plan format and covers the National Standards of
Visual Arts.
All curriculums are designed specific to each organization.
No two programs are alike.
We come in and train a facilitator who will carry on the art lessons once we have established the curriculum.
Breathing color technique helps to immediately calm your mind
Are your emotions working for or against you?
We transform lives through the POWER of ART.
Easy curriculum to follow.
Always ask the student WHAT they made and WHY.
We teach facilitators how to teach the lesson plan format.
Always ask the student to explain what they made.
This is when the magic happens.
AWAP has had 3 pilot studies done,
(Girls with eating disorders, Veterans of Foreign Wars and one on Diversity).
All proved that art is a powerful tool
to transform lives.
In today’s uncertain world we must help the
“AT-RISK” population to share their thoughts and feelings in order to feel seen, heard and VALUED.
And what better way than the creative process?
This picture is from a student/patient/client who titled this art piece “I'm falling, DON'T catch me".
This is a poignant cry for help!
We offer a wide range of programs for many
different populations:
(Schools, rehabilitation centers, organizations,
families and individuals).
NOW we are working at Vets Recover in Mobile, AL.
The Baldwin Family Village (a Fairhope program for homeless women and their kids) has selected 'ART with a Purpose' for their art curriculum.
